Could Chelsea welcome back their former wing hero?
Chelsea could attempt to bring their former winger Arjen Robben back to the club. Currently with Bayern Munich, Robben is looking to reignite his career and a move back to England could be on the cards. The Blues are one team that will look to invest heavily over the summer and Robben bas emerged as a possible target.
We speculated recently that the former Chelsea man could make a return to the Premier League with Arsenal, but could he be tempted to return to his former stomping ground and more importantly would Chelsea be interested in rekindling that relationship?
The Dutchman’s form has been a bit shaky recently and he has found game time at Bayern Munich very limited. Unless things improve dramatically for him at Bayern over the next few months, this could persuade him to look for a move out of the club at the end of the season, with Chelsea thought top be a side that he would love to play for again.
Chelsea’s wingers have been underperforming this season with some lacklustre displays, characterised by some poor service to their strikers. This has left Chelsea a little short on goals this season compared to the Top 2 sides who they really need to be challenging harder if they want to restore their reputation as one of the best sides in the land.
Robben lit up the Premier League with some sparkling performances for Chelsea during a very successful three year spell at the club. He was a massive hit with the media and fans alike who loved his unpredictability and his willingness to take on defenders, the likes of which we hadn’t seen for a while in the Premier League.
Unfortunately, Robben was also a little injury prone and it could be a bit of a gamble to bring him back to Stamford Bridge, although I have a feeling that the Chelsea fans would love to have him back and I also feel that Robben himself feels he could come in and do another great job for The Blues.
Having a player like Robben gracing the Premier League stage again would be fantastic, so it is a move that I would definitely like to see.
