Reports from Spain suggest that Real Madrid will launch an audacious £70m bid for Arsenal striker Robin van Persie in the summer. The Dutchman is one of the most in form players in world football at the moment and Jose Mourinho is a massive fan of the 28-year-old.

Arsenal have relied heavily on van Persie for goals this season and if he was to leave in the summer, he would be a huge loss for the Gunners, with no obvious replacement from inside the current squad.

Real Madrid are currently quite strong up front, however both Karim Benzema and Gonzalo Higuain have been linked with summer moves out of the club, meaning Madrid would have to find quick replacements. Van Persie would be an ideal replacement and would fit right in with Madrid’s style. With Madrid being a mega rich club who have often spent big in the past, an expensive move could be on the cards and the offer would have to extremely good to prise RVP away from The Emirates.

Van Persie is reportedly unhappy with the lack of trophies he has won with Arsenal in recent years, as are many Arsenal fans, let’s not forget! In an attempt to win some more medals, it is possible that the Dutchman could look for a move out of the club in the summer and there would be no shortage of interest in the striker, from some of the world’s top clubs.

Arsenal will be extremely reluctant to let their current star man leave, however for an offer of £70m or something equally as bankable, they may well be persuded to part company with him.
